Lead User Interface Programmer / General Programmer
Year 3 Trimester 1 Anglia Ruskin University
Personal Grade = 90% (First Class)
This project spanned over eight weeks, in which we produced a playable game with two levels and a tutorial section, we also created a very in depth 'Games Design Document', GDD, to aid our development of the project.
As a team, we created a 72 page document within the eight week time frame which covered all elements of the project which the markers were extremely impressed with, awarding me full marks of 20/20 on this section.
Working on the GDD as a team was an enjoyable experience and I am glad to have the experience which I hope to utilise in the industry.
The full .pdf 72-page file can be seen below, however, it is important to remember this was part of a six-member team, my personal contributions are highlighted in purple, and elements written in black were completed as a team.
I worked very hard together with our two great artists to create this system of customising players throughout the game, I learnt a lot about User Interface programming during this project.
I worked closely with the designer and other programmers on this project and created a pause menu which allowed the players to customise the game settings to ensure they were accessible for all, mainly the Dyslexia font which when toggled changed all fonts throughout the game to the most readable font.
As the previous project I worked on was a detailed research paper into the tutorialisation of games and their impact on the players I took responsibility of the tutorial section of this project, I made sure the players could have fun whilst they were learning the mechanics of the game.
As a team, we were tasked with presenting our project to the rest of the university students, as I had struggled with personal speaking in the past I worked hard to ensure a high-quality short presentation for the students and, as a team, we all performed exceptionally and I am proud of our composure.
As a team, now we are officially alumni of Anglia Ruskin University we decided to continue production of this game with the end goal of publishing the game on Steam, we understand we have a lot of work and steps to get to this stage, with the more immediate goal of presenting our game at Gamebridge in 2024.
